shahar dor cv

Shahar Dor is a movement and performance artist, a teacher and director of Artness. He explores, performs and teaches the arts of improvisation and performance through movement, theatre, music, live still photography and video. In the last 15 years Shahar teaches, performs and collaborates with artists from all over the world, and leads creative and educational projects in independent and academic institutions.

Shahar is motivated by the character embodied in a body, in a person and in a situation. Shahar’s cinematic approach to his work allows him to encompass other arts within the tapestry of art production. His practice and exploration is a combination of “movement-presence-performance” techniques, vocal work, music & video, martial arts and the practice of meditation.

His image based teaching connects worlds apart in technique and discipline, and shows a remarkable degree of humor, sensitivity and freedom in the practice of movement and its performance.

As a Teacher & Choreographer Shahar has a unique ability to sense and reach the most inner presence of dancers and students, he supports them in touching the simultaneous experience of outmost exploration, discipline, expression and freedom.

In 2005 Shahar formed Artness.
Artness is a home and school for the practice of movement and its performance. It is an organization that operates around the world, organizing workshops, festivals, creative projects, exhibitions and conferences, focusing on the unspoken knowledge and practice behind performance.
